Arterial blood pressure
The Samba system is a high fidelity instrument for monitoring arterial blood pressure and pressure waves with all their fine details. Blood pressure in the arteries can be recorded in realtime with high resolution and precision.
Arterial pressure is recorded by the Samba Preclin catheter inserted via a peripheral artery, for example the carotid, femoral or tail artery. The arterial pressure can be used to calculate systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP), Augmentation index (AIx) and a number of other arterial pressure parameters, and monitor the condition and wellbeing of the animal.
If the insertion is made through the right Carotid artery the Samba Preclin catheter can be pushed further into the left ventricle of the heart.
An instruction movie is available from Samba Sensors that shows a good procedure for inserting the Samba Preclin transducer into the right carotid artery of a mouse. To receive the movie, please send your request to Samba Sensors by using the Email Contact Form on our
Contact page.
