Preclinical

Pressure monitoring, in particular arterial blood pressure and venous blood pressure measurements, is a central activity in the physiological monitoring of animals during preclinical research.

The Samba Preclin micro-catheters are designed to enable highly sensitive, accurate and reliable measurements in applications where pressure is a key physiological parameter. Capable of fulfilling the most challenging demands for physiological pressure measurements in real time, Samba Sensors' systems are currently enabling the study of previously unobservable pressure patterns.

In preclinical research with animal models there is an increasing demand to monitor the health and well being of the animal. The fact that pressure is such a ubiquitous indicator of changes in physical condition, coupled with the small size and flexibility of our micro catheters, make Samba Sensors' systems ideal for such research. And Samba Preclin transducers are unmatched in their ability to monitor pressure in the cardiovascular systems of smaller animals such as mice.

Samba Sensors' catheters do not affect, nor are they affected by, magnetic and radio frequency fields. Thus they are ideal for virtually any application where image acquisition (MRI, CT, PET and SPECT) is required. Cardiopulmonary imaging in small rodents, using advanced imaging techniques, is otherwise particularly challenging due to both cardiac and pulmonary motion. Samba Sensors' system offers excellent performance and superior image results in experiments involving cardiac gating, even on mice, by using the intra-aortic pressure and respiratory signal to trigger the scanner.
